Ensemble Scratch the Surface broaden the interface between music, sound and visual performance through the use of acoustic, electronic and digital instrumentation and technology. Under the guidance of artistic-director, Conall Gleeson, the performance group commission and present contemporary music that engages those who are new to contemporary music whilst sustaining the interest of more experienced listeners and viewers.
The performance is part of the Brighton Fringe Festival and includes music by Steve Reich, Tom Johnson, Philip Glass, as well as several audio-visual premiers.
