Dr Susan Croft is a freelance writer, dramaturg, curator and arts consultant and a specialist in archiving and documenting performance. From 1997-2005 she was Curator of Contemporary Performance at the Theatre Museum where she pioneered work on live art, alternative theatre and Black Theatre in Britain including curating the Museum’s major exhibition Let Paul Robeson Sing!. She has published widely on women playwrights, especially the book …She Also Wrote Plays: an International Reference Guide to Women Playwrights (Faber, 2001) and on black theatre includingcontributed to the Routledge Companion to Black British Culture (2001). She was previously a lecturer and academic specialising in new writing and live art and prior to that was founder Director of New Playwrights Trust 1986-9. At present she is leading the project Unfinished Histories: towards an oral history of the alternative theatre movement and has just completed Phase 1 focusing on women’s theatre companies.
