Winner - Best Documentary, Shoresh Charitable Trust UKJFF Audience Award 2009
Lior loves to pray and this makes his family very happy. However, Lior is not just any young boy since he has Down's Syndrome and this affects his life and the lives of his family and the community in which they live. Many people think that Lior is 'close to G-d' though he is also a burden, a best friend, an inspiration and an embarrassment - depending on who is asked and when.
Praying with Lior offers us an insight into the nucleus of this wonderfully complex family at the centre of Lior's story and observes the extraordinary dynamics of their lives.
As Lior prepares for his Barmitzvah his father, the family and the community combine with all their generous energy and creativity and the resulting celebration, attended by 300 people, is inspirational in the sheer joy of the event and the finely tuned observational skills of Ilana Trachtman the filmmaker.
Tickets £7.50 on the door
