ensemble Scratch the Surface are performing excerpts from the new opera, XENON, by Mikhail Karikis. Its title refers to the ancient greek word for stranger/foreigner, which has found its way into contemporary English in words such as xenophobia, xenophile and the chemical element xenon. This work has political concerns and stages a series of difficulties: impossible vocal acts, a challenging memory test, and a military occupation of the auditorium.
They will be joined by artists Monica Ross, vocal trio JUICE and experimental vocalist E. Laine.
Tickets: £7.00 / £5.00 (concessions)
