Daniel Meadows' career as a documentary photographer, oral historian and teacher spans four decades and he is recognised as a prime-mover in an important group of photographers who spear-headed the 1970s independent photography movement including Martin Parr, Brian Griffin and Peter Fraser.
His practice is complex, passionate and sometimes deeply autobiographical. Working in a uniquely collaborative way with his subjects, Meadows produced an astonishing record of urban society across Britain.
