The Screendance Network, founded in May 2009, will be holding a public symposium, to meet with the wider community of screendance practitioners, researchers, students and interested minds and to explore current debates and concerns. Members of the Screendance Network will present the conceptual framework of the recently launched International Journal of Screendance, a small number of papers will be given to fuel the debates and a guest from the field of curating and publishing will contribute to the discussions.
Symposium Programme 10-5pm
Morning:
Session 1: A Curatorial Perspective 'Ballet Mecanique', a presentation and screening by Catherine Wood, Curator Contemporary Performance at Tate Modern
Session 2: A Choreographic Perspective Choreographer Siobhan Davies discusses a current screen-based project
Session 3: A Theoretical Perspective Members of the Screendance Network and filmmaker Miranda Pennell address screendance through selected theoretical texts
Session 4: Open Space debate between all delegates about the state of the art
Evening Screening 6-9pm
The Network is inviting delegates to share a meal before a screening of choreographed screen-based work.

Tickets for the evening event: Dinner and Screening £20; Screening only £5
