More than fifty years ago, a show about New York City changed musical theatre forever. Now City Youth Theatre Co. return to the Sallis Benney Theatre, after their sell-out performances of Les Miserables and Billy Elliot, bringing their thrilling presentation of a matchless work of art to Brighton.
From the first notes to the final breath, West Side Story is one of the most memorable musicals and greatest love stories of all time. Arthur Laurents’ book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever. The score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim that includes ‘Tonight’, ‘America’, ‘Maria’, ‘I Feel Pretty’ and ‘Somewhere’ – is widely regarded as one of the best ever written.
Directed by West End performer, Tania Newton, with original choreography by Graham Brown and a live professional orchestra led by Ellen Campbell, this exciting, exhilarating and emotional production is a must-see for all.
