A world-wide stage sensation, Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods has won multiple awards including an Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival in 2010. Into the Woods is witty, dark and intelligent, mashing-up the stories of fairytale characters that we have grown to love including Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel and Cinderella, to name but a few! With all the characters focused on the same goal of getting their wish, the woods cast a giant shadow over them all, as they each go Into the Woods to make their dreams come true. With great cunning and a few storylines that you definitely won’t find in the original fairytales, at first they succeed. Until, that is, the Giant’s Wife returns to avenge her husband and living ‘happily ever after’ starts to seem about as likely as Cinderella putting in for some cleaning overtime...
Everyone will have go to Into the Woods one more time... A complex metaphor for choosing the right path, Into the Woods will take you on a journey in which you will discover more than just a handful of magic beans! Created by University of Chichester Touring; the same professional team that brought you last year’s critically acclaimed production of Honk! “
The material of ''Into the Woods'' is potent stuff - as old as time, or at least as old as fairy tales. The conception is brilliant. Mr. Sondheim has as much fun as one expects with his wicked airing of the old tales.” (The New York Times on the Original Production)
