SICK!

International Arts Festival

1st March - 16th March 2013

We are counting the days to the launch of the first ever SICK! Festival on Friday 1st March 2013 and you are warmly invited to join us for this unique event.

SICK! is an ambitious, international, cross-art form festival that seeks out new ways of talking about and dealing with the experience of sickness of all kinds: physical, mental, ethical and spiritual. The Wellcome Trust generously funded this project and many organisations from the arts, education and health care sectors have been hugely supportive in the development of this unique festival. Without these great collaborations SICK! 2013 would have not been possible.

In a diverse and outstanding programme of performance, dance, film, online projects and debates SICK! will bring together international artists, medical practitioners and people for whom sickness is an urgent, present reality. SICK! is about how our bodies and minds can act against us and against society’s expectations of what is normal. It is about understanding and taking back control.

The Basement


A true story about forgetting who you are. About struggling to retain dignity and identity and about weekly visits to an Alzheimer clinic. Featuring a discussion between Dr. Sue Eckstein and Jochem Stavenuiter (Bambie).
