Ragroof Tea Dances – Festival Mayhem

Scintillating rhythms, glamorous gowns, and the opportunity for everyone to polish up their dancing shoes and trip the light fantastic every weekend in May, in Brighton and in Norwich!

The Ragroof Players present the return of their ever-popular dress-to-impress Tea Dances to the Spiegeltents in both Brighton and Norwich, plus a Festival Special at our regular hometown venue, The Sallis Benney Theatre, University of Brighton.

Roll up for vintage tunes, dazzling dance displays, and whirlwind Instant Dance Classes to ease you onto the floor.

Suitable for experienced dancers and absolute beginners alike. Each of the events are specially themed – come dressed to impress if the mood takes you, but it’s not compulsory! No dance partners needed…

 Company co-director and resident dance teacher, Dorothy’s Shoes, says:

 “Our famous Ragroof Tea Dances are unique for their sparkling theatrical ambience and their egalitarian approach. We recreate the feel of a classic dancehall, with all the attendant glamour, and we involve everyone in the dance with our unique ‘instant dance classes’ in which all, regardless of age or gender or dance experience, can learn to lead and follow a few basic steps in just ten minutes or so. Take the ten minute challenge and see!”

On Sunday 19 May they return to their year-round venue, the Sallis Benney Theatre, University of Brighton.

The Sallis Benney Theatre event on 19 May runs 2pm till 5pm, and is themed Luscious Latin. Tickets £8 / £6.
