ALL TIED UP…
Live design event
Join entrepreneurial tailor and Brighton alumnus Gresham Blake (Fashion Design with Business Studies BA(Hons) 2000) for an interactive design event.
With a client list reading like a gentleman’s hall of fame – Eddie Izzard, Ray Winstone, Richard E Grant, David Dimbleby, Christian Slater – Gresham knows a thing or two about couture.
With the help of you, the audience, Gresham will demonstrate how you interpret a brief (a gentleman’s tie) and work his magic.
Free refreshments are available but booking is essential using the following link: http://bit.ly/17wUKJ3
Open to all students.
Gresham Blake graduated as a mature student with a BA(Hons) Fashion and Business in 2000 and almost immediately set up his own business. He is an innovative, contemporary designer-tailor specialising in bespoke and made-to-measure suits, as well as producing seasonal ready-to-wear collections.
The rise in his reputation in the tailoring world has been impressive, becoming part, of what has been described as, the ‘new bespoke movement’ aimed at revitalising classic British tailoring by making it relevant to a new audience of younger, hipper clients.
Gresham’s style has been described as ‘Savile Row with a rock star twist’ offering quality tailoring and fine British milled materials with funky, subversive touches such as sober exteriors with flashy floral linings, or subtle suits with metal skull buttons. His clients have included The Rizzle Kicks, Nick Cave, Steve Coogan and Ray Winstone. After opening his first shop in Brighton’s Bond Street, Blake now has a flagship store in Shoreditch.
Opening the University of Brighton Faculty of Arts graduate fashion show in 2010, Gresham said: “It’s a real pleasure to be asked to support the university. The education and encouragement I received here turned my life around. It’s not been an easy road, but the result is a rewarding and successful fashion business. I am proud to be a Brighton graduate.”
