Hullabaloo Quire is proud to announce their upcoming performance with folk luminaries O’Hooley & Tidow.
Whilst O’Hooley & Tidow delight traditional folk fans with their stirring harmonies and rousing lyrics they also surprise, favouring a piano over the usual fiddle and accordion, and incorporating the sounds of bicycles, industrial white noise and pneumatic drills into their album tracks.
Singer-songwriter Heidi Tidow and singer-songwriter and pianist Belinda O’Hooley are exceptional song writers, whose lyrics span subjects from migration, shellshock, love, and prejudice to…micro breweries, the later being characteristic of their intelligent humour and passion for locally brewed beer. The duos ‘informal and comedic onstage persona’ (MOJO) brings a sense of joy and hope to their songs without diminishing heartfelt reflections on moving subjects.
Hullabaloo Quire - one of Brighton’s best loved natural voice community choirs has been performing for 20 years. Hullabaloo is passionate about collaboration and has previously worked with Oysterband, Lucy Ward and Brighton’s own Moulettes. The Quire, with community at its heart, sing a huge and eclectic range of music together - songs of passion, protest and celebration - with a repertoire that spans mediaeval funk to post modern folk! Hullabaloo is also delighted to have been selected to host The National Street Choir Festival in 2018.
Winterfolk will consist of 3 parts – a set by Hullabaloo, singing a fabulous cappella music in glorious, uproarious harmony, a solo set by O’Hooley and Tidow, and a set that brings the Quire and the duo together for a world premiere of chorally enhanced O’H&T delights!
Tickets £9/£7 via Eventbrite.
