Partners of Techne

Collaboration with a range of external Partners is vital to Techne's vision of a doctoral research in which students experience the processes of thinking, making and applying their work. For Techne, Partners are integral to the process of crafting and co-producing scholarship, creativity and reflexive action in the world and therefore Techne emphasises mutually supportive knowledge exchange and professional development between doctoral students and highly experienced staff within our Partner organisations. As evidence of this commitment, around 20% of Techne students will pursue Collaborative Doctoral Award programmes co-designed by a non-HEI organisation and HEI supervisory staff.

Loughborough London University leads Techne's work on Partner Engagement.

Partner engagement takes a variety of forms:

  • Student placements and artist/writer residency schemes. Students can be supported financially by Techne whilst undertaking such activities and receive an extension to their maintenance payments.
  • Knowledge exchange opportunities which give partner staff and academics an opportunity to discuss future projects and grant applications
  • Partner participation in Techne student training and development events such as biannual Congresses, and partner-hosted training events
  • Membership of the Techne Partner Forum which enables partners to have input to Techne strategy for engagement and training
  • Participation in the Techne Peer Review College which reviews student applications
  • Partner Engagement Fellows – students in receipt of maintenance extensions – will work with partners to develop training and engagement opportunities

Students wishing to work with a partner should make an initial approach either through Techne or their supervisor rather than contacting the partner directly.

Techne welcomes new Partners. Please contact us if you are interested or would like to propose a Partner.
