Renowned ecologist Dr Jacques Deere (Oxon) has investigated how organisms adapt and interact in different environments, from the sub-Antarctic extremes to Dutch tulip bulbs. Now he is applying this understanding of the factors that promote success to the modern researcher. Understanding your environment can be crucial to flourishing within it.
Using unique images and insights from his own research, the workshop will challenge you to rethink your PhD landscape:
- Evolving supervisors: turning predator-prey relationships into symbiosis.
- “What’s in it for me?”: Helping you to focus on those connections and collaborations that can help you move forward
- Networking opportunities: how can we work together and provide support?
- Finding your research niche: adapting your research to different audiences, and planning your own strategy to thrive
- Exploiting resources: saying ‘Yes’ and maximising your opportunities
- Publish and flourish: how to attract diverse audiences
We can’t promise tiger-stripes face-painting, but we will provide lunch.
