The free event will provide support and advice for research students and staff seeking to contribute to and also evolve methods and methodologies that seek to diversify and democratise conventional academic discourse by valuing evocative storytelling and performance as innovative research. Students will gain insights from experienced academics and professional writers on finishing writing projects that embed performance, poetry, memoir, fiction etc into the research and guidance on writing research that employs creative methodologies and methods and legitimises writing and performance as academic. There will be workshops and a masterclass to help with writing, and parallel spaces offering time to write and one to one tutorials with a writing tutor on a specific writing project including journal papers, chapters, book proposals and thesis’s. The day will culminate in a master class from a professional playwright who will speak on research as practice and practice as research and the social responsibility of researcher’s contributing to their fields in this way.
