Is the prospect of delivering your next paper or dissertation, sending shivers down your spine? Are you already having sleepless nights? Would you rather go over Niagara Falls in a barrel than speak to a room full of people? Just why do we get so anxious about public speaking? How can some people do it so easily?

Enrol on this fun, practical and highly participative afternoon workshop and start to overcome your fears.  The course considers how your audience of intimidating academics, will form an impression of you – from the visual (behaviour) from the vocal (how you sound) and from what you say (content).

You will learn how to:

  • Manage your body language – what does yours say about you?

  • Read the audience – why do they always look so hostile?

  • Get your nerves under control using behavioural and cognitive techniques

  • Match your facial expression and tone of voice to your message

  • Make tactical and influential eye contact

  • Speak off-the-cuff – so you’re not overly reliant on notes

  • Express yourself clearly and logically

  • Sound certain by speaking with conviction and sincerity

  • Assemble and structure a presentation almost instantly!

  • Build a relationship with your audience, so they keep listening

In addition to his professional appearances he also moved into radio journalism, writing, producing and presenting features on air for Capital Radio Ltd. Using the presentation experience he acquired as a presenter for BBC Television Training at Elstree, he began to devise and develop a number of highly successful training courses; helping others to communicate effectively as well as overcome their fear of public speaking. Chris has a diploma in Applied Psychology, as well as a Psychology science degree, both of which have proved to be reliable sources for the advice he gives to others.
