Would you like to take part in a session of radio programme and podcast making in action in a BBC radio studio?

Working in a BBC Radio 4 and Radio 3 studio you will have the chance to create your own podcast and take part in programme-making exercises as if live on radio.

The workshop is designed to give PGRs who are interested in broadcast media the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of BBC programme-making in action and to gain experience in presenting PhD research in a clear format, accessible to a radio audience. It provides the training and experience of speaking on radio. You will be able to speak on your own research topic.

This training day comprises a morning workshop with Jo Langton and Polly Hember (who run the Techne student podcast) to prepare scripts and interview questions, ahead of the afternoon studio programme-making exercise. This will include role-play across all the different skills involved, operating the mixing desk and other studio equipment and experiencing the role of producer and presenter. Participants are invited to contribute podcast ideas to record during the session and will take part in a round-table discussion for an episode of the Techne podcast. The recordings will be shared and promoted on the Technecast podcast site.

We particularly welcome participants with proposals for submissions to the Technecast podcast.
