'Rough Notes'
A lecture and drinks reception introduced by Natalie Brett, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Head of College London College of Communication and Professor Cathy Lane

Location:
WG10 Lecture Theatre A, London College of Communication Elephant & Castle London, SE1 6SB

Abstract
In Angus Carlyle’s Professorial Platform he will set out to dowse for “roughness,” traipsing across different projects with which he has been involved – projects that have inclined towards the documentary or have leaned in more personal directions, projects that have felt the warmth of collaboration or have been lone explorations, projects that stitch the written word to heard sound and to moving image. This idea of “roughness” will be simultaneously encountered as the conditions experienced under sun and rain, as an unreliability that attaches to recording as it does to remembering, and as a threshold for the approximations of representation.
