Researchers Masterclass: Showreels for performers and artists

    Week view

6th Nov 2018 10:30am-4:30pm

Location: Caryl Churchill Theatre (Studio 2), Royal Holloway, Egham, TW20 0EX

This workshop is part of 'Whatever Next?' TECHNE's Career Development Programme.

A Showreel is one of the most important marketing tools a freelancer can have. In an increasingly competitive world this additional marketing tool can be the key to securing a meeting. This is evident in all genres of work, whether you are an actor, dancer, singer or artist. The aim of this workshop is for each student to explore what makes a good showreel. This will cover the music choices, angles to film from and ways to help your creative work stand out. A Showreel is a trailer of you, this is your work and your personality. Ultimately people are hired for two reasons: for being good at what they do, and having a personality that employers want in their team. We will discuss how to encapsulate this in a Showreel, how best to prepare for that first meeting, and how to market you! Like any business, artists need to advertise, and a Showreel is the most effective way to get noticed.

Take a day out in the leafy surroundings of Royal Holloway's campus for this day long workshop. The workshop will be followed a few weeks later with bookable one to one appointments where students will be given guidance for their own Showreel.

The workshop and one to ones will be run by Hoofprint Productions, an independent production company, who specialise in Showreel development.

To book a place on this workshop, please email techne@rhul.ac.uk.
