Techne Autumn Online Writing Group

20th Oct 2020 9:30am - 24th Nov 2020 5:00pm

To attend this course please book on Inkpath. Inkpath is an app available to all Techne students, if you're not already using please click here to find out how to get started.

This six week writing group starting on Tuesday 20th October aims toinspire, motivate, reduce isolation and create a sense of community for researchers who are writing during this period. We meet on Zoom at 09.30 every Tuesday, for half an hour, to set our writing goals. From 10.00-11.00, I am available for short one-to-one sessions to discuss writing matters. We come back together at 16.30 to report on progress.

There is space for up to 12 researchers, who must commit to attend every Tuesday morning and afternoon, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

The writing group provides:

  • regular. protected time for writing thesis chapters
  • more focused goal-setting for writing periods
  • a structured and motivating writing community
  • a chance to reflect on, and improve, your writing process
  • focused writing advice and support from the facilitator
  • the chance to share writing experience with fellow students

If you have any questions about the workshop please email techne@rhul.ac.uk.

This workshop will be run by Anne Wilson. Anne has a background in journalism (features) and corporate communication (scripts, speeches, screen media copy), combining her writing with facilitating writing workshops in HE. She was Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Brunel University for three years, and now runs workshops on academic writing and professional communication for postgraduates and staff at Brunel and other universities. She also coaches students for the 3MT competition (won by Brunel in 2017). She has recently collaborated with the Brunel Occupational Therapy department to investigate what kind of feedback helps students to improve their academic writing.
