The National Archives’ Techne Digital Seminar for Postgraduate Students

27th Apr 2021 10:00am-1:00pm

The National Archives is offering a 3-hour training and development seminar, offering insight into our research and work on digital and our collections. We encourage students interested in digital research in cultural heritage, digital humanities and digital scholarship research to attend the session.

The day will aim to provide an overview of the computational landscape, beginning with the very basics of working with data through to the principles behind AI. There are thousands of online resources available for learning particular skills, such as programming or data science, but for many technology is intimidating, full of jargon, and they don’t know where to start.

This seminar, therefore, will try to cut through the jargon and identify core technologies, and the concepts behind them, which may be of use to humanists. It will include introductions to data exploration, visualisation techniques and machine learning for cultural heritage research, as well as an interactive session where students will have the opportunity to actively engage with experts from The National Archives and the ideas presented over the introductory sessions.

Please go to https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-national-archives-techne-digital-seminar-for-postgraduate-students-tickets-139426549563 using the password NATIONALARCHIVES to register. If you have any questions about the session please contact research@nationalarchives.gov.uk
