Techne Student-led Conference - Voices: Past, Present, Future
24th Nov 2021 - 26th Nov 2021
This year’s
Technē student-led conference ‘Voices: Past, Present, Future’ seeks to explore the significance of
voice in research and society, giving a platform for unheard voices from the
past, to establish our voices and those unheard ones in the present, and
consider the voices of the future and how these may take shape. Organised by a
team of Technē students, this conference will take place online through Zoom on
the 24th, 25th and 26th November 2021, with a
day dedicated to each strand of ‘Past’, ‘Present’, and ‘Future’. Our schedule includes
a range of keynote speakers, presentations, panel discussions and workshops,
bringing together an eclectic range of academic disciplines within the Arts and
Humanities, enabling all to share their voices, foster interests, and encourage
interaction and collaboration.
Day 1 of the conference will focus
on voices of the past, with discussions on the rich history of spoken and
written voices, and how we can study and appreciate them today. For Day 2, we
have workshops and talks on the voice of the academic researcher in the present,
offering crucial advice on the trials of finding one’s voice and one’s place in
the academic field. Finally, for Day 3, we look at discovering new voices
within the developing interests and concerns of modern society, ensuring
inclusivity for all voices in various mediums.
