Using and writing Mobilities paradigms in postgraduate research
17th Sep 2021 10:00am-12:30pm
This
training day will focus on theoretical discussion and exchange and networking. The
key aim is to broaden participants' understanding and command of theoretical
approaches and research methods relating to the concept of Mobilities. The day
will focus on sharing the expertise of Surrey’s Mobilities Research Centre with
students whose research involves paradigms and methodologies relating to the interdisciplinary
concept of ‘Mobilities’, which is increasingly central to Arts and Humanities
research. The first part of the day will consist of brief specialist
presentations by Centre members, explaining their use of ‘Mobilities’ paradigms
in their research. PGR students will then have the opportunity to present their
own research from that angle, and to discuss it with small-group specialist
input. Networking opportunities for all participants will be built in
throughout the day, with a view to future research activities.
All Techne students are welcome to attend, particularly those working on topics involving concepts and methodologies
relating to Mobilities, across all disciplines, locations and periods of study.
This covers for example all students working on comparative and transnational
topics, literal and figurative mobilities, connections and disconnections,
social and cultural spaces.
The workshops will take place online on Zoom. Please email Constance Bantman to book your place.
