Embodied Practice Online Symposia

8th Jun 2022 2:30pm-4:00pm

Welcome to a series of online symposia to broaden and deepen our understanding about embedding a head-and-heart approach in our projects.

Join the conversation with practitioners and researchers from different parts of the world and different disciplines to learn about how they integrate and understand embodied practice – tacit knowledge and skills - in their work. Our guests present their work, bring different perspectives and lived experiences about embodied practices and approaches to creative and academic projects.

We hope that this series will provide opportunities for peer support and collaborative learning, encouraging the development and dissemination of ideas and artworks in and beyond the network we are building. Perhaps it can ‘embody’ the potential richness of cross-disciplinary links and creative collaboration.

Our first guest is Priska Falin. Priska Falin is a Finnish artist-researcher working in the field of ceramics at Aalto University in Finland. In her research she concentrates on aesthetic experiences and embodied cognition in ceramic practice. The core of her artistic work engages with the ways we connect ourselves to the world through material encounters. She is interested in drawing from an abstract space where words fail us to describe the embodied experiences that create the grounds for constructing ourselves.
