Practical and inspiring open days for first year PhD students
The British Library holds the world's pre-eminent collection of manuscript, archival, digital and print sources for the study of 20th - and 21st - century Britain and Ireland, in both domestic and international contexts. Our extensive collections include printed editions, newspapers, zines and the output of small presses, manuscript works, literary sources and personal papers and archives, photographs, maps and reports.
This event takes an interdisciplinary approach to 20th - and 21st - century studies. It will appeal to all researchers who are interested in working with the modern and contemporary collections at the British Library, including those undertaking PhDs in the areas of history, politics, literature, drama, art & design, cultural studies and the history of science and technology. You will be introduced to the full scope of the collection and learn how to unlock its potential to support your research.
Our Doctoral Open Days provide an opportunity to meet expert staff and other researchers across a range of disciplines and subject areas.
To make the most of your day, you may wish to register for a free Reader Pass before the event.
This event is for first year PhD students who are new to the Library.
