Practicing GeoHumanities: Research at the Intersection of Geography and Creative Practice
16th June 10.30am- 5.30 pm Royal Geographical Society, London
Are you a PhD student or early career researcher bringing together creative practice and geographical research?
GeoHumanities names an increasingly common intersection of the practice and scholarship of the arts and humanities with geographical scholarship and practice. A growing amount of such work is being undertaken through practice based or practice led PhDs, often but not always based in Geography departments. This day-long workshop provides an opportunity for doctoral candidates working on practice-led or practice-based PhDs on geographical topics to meet and discuss the challenges and benefits of these ways of working
Marking the launch of the RHUL Centre for the GeoHumanities the event will bring together practitioner-scholars based within and beyond geography to:
1) Explore the benefits and challenges of doing creative-practice based PhDs around geographic topics
2) Discuss the processes of these PhDs
3) Reflect on researcher-practitioner identities
4) Discuss career outputs and trajectories
5) Develop an early career network of practice-based PhD students working on geographic topics
