The career landscape with an Arts and Humanities PhD

27th Mar 2017 1:00pm

CHASE Careers and professional development training

A series of workshops offering practical advice and guidance for your career development as an arts and humanities scholar. Hear from a range of speakers on topics such as pathways into early career research, postdoctoral funding, careers within and beyond academia and the Higher Education policy landscape.

Workshops will normally be two hours in the morning or afternoon in London. Each will feature speakers from across the CHASE DTP and beyond and an opportunity for open discussions on the subject of the workshop. Sign up for each session you would like to attend.

Room S118, SOAS, University of London - - Paul Webley Wing (Senate House North Block)

  • Dr Heather Tilley, Birkbeck Wellcome Trust ISSF Fellow
  • Dr Sarah Longair, Lecturer in History of Empire, University of Lincoln
  • Dr Francisca Fuentes, Curator North American Published Collections, The British Library

What careers can an Arts and Humanities PhD help you achieve?
What can you do, alongside your PhD and once you’ve submitted, to help you secure these opportunities?
What are the differences between career paths in and outside of academia?
How might your next career choices affect your longer term ambitions?

Further sessions to be announced soon will cover:

  • Postdoctoral research
  • Working internationally
  • Teaching
