Programme

Play! 2016 promises an exciting progamme of events. Experience theatre in the historic Picture Gallery as Drama students perform ‘Shakespeare 2016: The Princes in the Tower’, a new piece developed for the Festival and directed by Rebecca McCutcheon. Student-led drama productions include open air theatre, new writing, interactive one-to-one pieces and promenade performances using non-traditional ‘found’ spaces or exploring ‘space’ as a theme.

Live music includes a jazz night with ‘Undergraduated’, Royal Holloway's student-led big band, a performance from the Gamelan Ensemble, a late night concert of twentieth century and contemporary classics from the Royal Holloway New Music Collective and a Clarinet Ensemble & Wind Quintet concert. Director of Orchestras Rebecca Miller and the Royal Holloway Symphony Orchestra finish their Concert Series with monumental music of galactic proportion, performing Gustav Holst's The Planets plus Dvorak's mystical 'Song to the Moon' from Rusulka.

A host of events will take place in 'Lost & Found Spaces' around campus: from screenings of new short films produced by first year Media Arts students to 'Final Encore' a showcase of new creative writing by Purpureus, a PhD fiction writing group. Join a tour to learn about the secrets of spaces across Royal Holloway, from the sculptures in Founders Quads to 'Secret Gardens' and ‘Holloway’s Hidden Histories’.
