PAST: Postgraduate Archival Skills Training Programme 2017-18

9th Nov 2017

The ability to use archives and original documents is a key aspect of academic research across a number of disciplines, but can seem like a daunting and time-consuming task.

The National Archives have developed a programme of postgraduate archival skills training (PAST) to help you get started in the archives and gain the skills and knowledge needed to take your research further.

All sessions are delivered by our records specialists on site in Kew and are based on working with original documents from our collections.

Email for more information.

How to get started in the archives, find original documents for your research, and make the most of your time on site. Aimed at third year undergraduate and postgraduate students.

During the postgraduate archival skills training (PAST) Introduction to Archival Research days, we will explain how to get started in the archives, how to find original documents for your research, and how to make the most of your time on site.

Sessions include an introduction to using Discovery, our online catalogue, and a behind-the-scenes tour of the archives.
