Description | A success for English Literature and Media (E.L.M) students, hosts of the employability event held at the University of Brighton on Wednesday 18 May. What started as a rainy day in Falmer was brightened up by the enthusiastic E.L.M team, a perfect vibe to shake the nerves of those presenting. Firstly, we heard motivational accounts from Pannie Lun, Nicholas Church and Claire Griffiths that gave insight into potential pathways in the fields of English Literature and Media. Thus, the event kicked off to a great start. The floor was busy with panels showcasing career opportunities such as the university’s volunteering service, Active Student, as well as general advice from tutors. However, the highlight of the day was the E.L.M team’s presentations. They expressed personal feelings and theoretical findings from their work placements. It was clear that the team had benefited from their experiences and built up individual banks of skills to fill their CV’s to bursting. The guests were highly impressed with their level of enthusiasm and dedication. The event rounded off with an inspirational talk from alumni Lucy Mills on her journey from college to her thriving media career. A perfect way to conclude a very insightful day. The guests left feeling more prepared to branch out after watching the E.L.M Team bloom.
