Description | Clare Whistler and Charlotte Still have been collaborating since July 2012 – exploring their local water sources, streams and springs in East Sussex. Most recently, as Scholars in Residence at Bader International Study Centre, Herstmonceux Castle, they have been working on Underwateredge, a project exploring the historical shoreline around the Pevensey Levels. Clare and Charlotte are walking the contours of the land which mark the old water level, investigating local history, archaeology, geology, myth and story. Along the way, they meet local people and experts, collect photographs, films, writing and specimens. The event is introduced by writer Clare Best, one of two Writers in Residence at the University of Brighton this year (the other being Sara Clifford). Clare’s collaborative project with Mary Anne Aytoun-Ellis – Springlines – was the subject of the February WiR Salon 2015. |
