University Gallery
Following the successful publication of the Open Houses book last May, the Brighton based Fiveways Artists' Group will show the diversity of their work at the University of Brighton Gallery in August. Glass, ceramics, jewellery, paintings, textiles and mixed media make up a small selectionof the mediums used in this exhibition.
Over 60 artists work will be on show with a combination of internationally recognised names such as Harvey Daniels (painting and printmaker) and press photographer Roger Bramber, with local talents Bert Marsh (wood turner) and Sue Nunn with her fun sculptures. Work includes examples of the Group's publicity and many of the members and guest artists who have exhibited with the Fiveway's Artists Open Houses over the years.
The Artists' Open Houses is a perennial and popular feature of the Brighton Festival. Popular demand from visitors requiring information on the history of the group prompted successful application to the National Lottery through the Arts Council of England. The Grant enabled them to develop a fully illustrated historical survey of the Fiveways Artists' Group from its origins in the early 1980's to the extensive organisation it is today. The book will be available for purchase at the exhibition.
