An opportunity to see and appraise the work of young emerging artists - full time BA undergraduate students in the Fine Art and the Visual and Performing Arts programmes. These students are approximately half way through their visual arts degree course at the University and this, for them, is their first opportunity to exhibit their work in fully professional gallery circumstances. The exhibition is curated and organised by the students themselves.
The Air Show, An Exhibition of High Art , Critical Fine Art Practice IIFloating Superheroes, vertiginous notices and a formation flying team of miniature jets are just some of the features of an unusual exhibition by 2nd year Critical Fine Art Practice students. They intend to leave the floor and lower walls of the Gallery completely free of art objects, instead making maximum use of the height of the gallery, and its visibility from double decker buses, the pavement and the busy stairs and mezzanine floor of the Grand Parade site. But this is not just a gimmick: the CFAP students are constantly searching for new ways to make and present art. By encouraging visitors to look up, they hope that the risk of stiff necks will be balanced by a novel relationship with the aesthetic adventure. Raise your gaze! (Image credit: Mary Kitchen)
