'The Art of Hip Hop' is a week-long exhibition delivered in direct partnership with Brighton University Gallery. The exhibition aims to showcase the work of graffiti artists; photographers, designers, illustrators, street artists and artists whose work has emerged as a direct visual manifestation of Hip Hop culture. Drawing together both recognised artists and emerging talent from across the UK, the exhibition will portray the diverse and multi-faceted response to the theme of 'Past, Present, Future'.
Comprising of a comprehensive selection of works, the exhibition will display artifacts; sketchbooks, canvases, magazines, club flyers, posters, record sleeves, stickers, photographs, portraits as well as more interactive elements such as site-specific installations. With contributions from the innovators of the scene all the way through to youth workshop participants, the exhibition aims to celebrate all aspects of hip hop inspired art; ultimately resulting in creating a platform for the work within a contemporary visual art context.
