Tony Benn will be showing work recently made during his Phd incorporating paintings, texts and artists interviews to create a multi-layered experience of looking, reading and listening. A concatenation of differing experiences, around problems of observing the absurd world we inhabit. A world in which it seems perfectly logical to produce billions of plastic bottles of water each one espousing an aura of health and vitality to the consumer, and each one becoming yet another object in a landfill site or an incinerator. These are still life paintings with a difference - strange hybrid objects - part painting, part bas relief and part polemic. Including a video installation of interviews with other artists: Leon Golub and Elaine Sturtevant who each in their own way combined polemic, political or philosophical, that impinges on the problem of just what is possible for artists to say or do about the absurd violent world we inhabit.
