This talk will explore the lives and works of the modernist artists, writers and communities who came to Sussex in the early and mid-20th century. Why did they come to Sussex? How important were local places and people to their work? Having recently curated the Sussex Modernism: Retreat and Rebellion exhibition, Dr Hope Wolf will reflect on the process of making the exhibition as well as discussing her ongoing research.
