The forum included short presentations by key researchers that formed the basis for a broader discussion of research initiatives within the Faculty of Arts. The forum operated as an open house and colleagues were invited to sit in on presentations as they wished. Lunch and refreshments were also provided.
11.00am: Duncan Baker-Brown, 'The House That Kevin Built'
Duncan Baker-Brown presents the first ever prefabricated house made almost entirely from organic, non-toxic, locally sourced and waste products, designed and built in five days and featured on Grand Designs Live on Channel 4.
12.00pm: Jyri Kermik, 'Ministry of Design: Leaked Memo'
Jyri Kermik attempts to present his position as a researcher/maker in relation to material histories and patterns derived from traditional processes and industrial development.
13.00pm: Lunch
14.00pm: Louise Purbrick
Louise Purbrick presents an examination of the relationship between materiality and history at the former prison site Long Kesh/Maze, Northern Ireland
15.00pm: Lawrence Zeegen, 'Explorations in Illustration'
Lawrence Zeegen presents three books/publications that explore contemporary illustration practice and the practitioners that have defined the radical shifts in practice in he past decade.
