Brighton Interior Architecture & Architecture Society is pleased to announce the first ‘Minds in Motion’ talk this term by two Brighton graduates, Owain Williams and Sebastian Elliott on Thursday the 11th October 2012 at 6pm in the Small Gallery in Mithras House.
Having graduated from the University of Brighton in 2010, Owain is currently completing his 5th year at the Bartlett, UCL. Recently awarded the National Eisteddfod Architecture Scholarship for 2012, his lecture will introduce his work as part of Unit 12 under Professor Jonathan Hill (author of The Illegal Architect, Immaterial Architecture and Weather Architecture). Owain will also be presenting his degree project, the Assemblage Machine, which proposes a Buddhist Seminary in an existing urban recess at the terminal point of Brighton’s north Laines offering an approach to the problematics of the ‘social condenser’ typology through a methodology driven by Deleuze and Guattari's post-structuralist work A Thousand Plateaus.
Sebastian graduated from Brighton in 2011 and has since worked for a year in Brazil with Isay Weinfield and now he is back to Brighton to begin the MArch Architecture course. On thursday Sebastian will be talking about his part 1 year out abroad, including his work and personal experiences including a brief introduction to contemporary Brazilian and South American urbanism.
