‘What is An Author Made of?’
Dubravka Ugrešić. Writer of novels (Baba Yaga Laid an Egg, The Ministry of Pain, The Museum of Unconditional Surrender), short story collections (Lend Me Your Character, In The Jaws of Life) and books of essays (Karaoke Culture, Nobody’s Home, Thank You for Not Reading, The Culture of Lies)
This talk will examine the literary category of author and authorship through three basic premises -- Name, Gender, Nationality/Ethnicity -- and within the contemporary literary culture of amateurism (fan fiction, twitterature, cell-phone literature, etc.).
