Gateways to the First World War's 2015 Annual Lecture will be presented by Dr Glyn Prysor, Chief Historian for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. More than one million Indians served overseas during the First World War. They played a vital role in the British Empire’s war effort, from the Western Front to the Middle East and Africa. Some 60,000 lost their lives, and their graves and memorials can be found from Brighton to Basra. This talk will explore their wartime experiences and reflect on how they are remembered today.
