Memory of Fire: The War of Images and Images of War
Brighton Photo Biennial, in association with Fine Art MA at the University of Brighton Faculty of Arts, presented an open lecture byDr Julian Stallabrass.
Dr Julian Stallabrass is a writer and critic, and lecturer in Art History at the Courtauld Institute. Julian is best known for his work in the entwined areas of global contemporary art, online art and culture, and the political role of art.
Brighton Photo Biennial is an ambitious celebration of international photographic practice, which includes exhibitions, commissions, events and debate. Brighton Photo Biennial 2008, curated by Julian Stallabrass, explored photographic images of war, their making, use and circulation, and their currency in contemporary society. The 2008 programme provided a platform for the very poignant debate about the representation of war.
