28th Nov 2012 5:30pm-7:15pm
University of Chichester, Room TBC
Second seminar in a series, 'Home and Away'.
'Whatever should we call "Practice-based research?"' Dr Mary Anne Francis, University of Brighton.
'Articulations: exploring embodied and somatic research methodologies for practice as research in the creative arts' Professor Jane Bacon, University of Chichester.
The Universities of Brighton and Chichester are working together on an AHRC funded Block Grant partnership to enhance capacity for PhD research across the Arts and Humanities. The aim of this inter-disciplinary series is to create an informal and stimulating environment for academic staff and research students to join in conversation, critique and the sharing of research. The first session attracted over 30 people across both institutions and included presentations from Prof Bill Gray (Dept. English, Chichester) and Dr Frank Gray (Director of Screen Archive South East, Brighton) and sparked interesting debate across disciplines and universities.
The talk should be of interest to all colleagues concerned with debates about the relationship between practice and research. Light refreshments will be provided.
If you're interested in attending, please contact Lorraine Slater. A plan will be put in place for travel depending upon the numbers interested.
