Art or Prozac?

Working as an artist can be a solitary affair, conjuring up images of painters toiling alone in attics or in windswept cottages on desolate moors.  

However, artists can also work right in the thick of it, busy within their own local communities, utilising their creativity for the benefit of others, using art to improve their well-being or opportunities if they are in need.  

Brighton-based charity Creative Future helps marginalised people engage with their wider or local community society.  By marginalised we mean people with life experience of mental ill health, learning or physical disability or other socially excluding circumstance such as homelessness or substance mis-use.  

Creative Future offers 3 programmes through which people develop their creative practice: workshops, 1:1 mentoring and high profile events such as the Impact Art Fair, Tight Modern and the Creative Future Literary Awards (for writers).

About Creative Future
Creative Future provide training, mentoring and the chance to publish or exhibit to talented people who lack opportunities due to mental health issues, disability, health or social circumstance.

MY-What?
Making Your Way in the Arts (MYWITA) is a series of professional practice events for the creative industries, hosted by the Faculty of Arts and University of Brighton Careers Service during the annual Graduate Degree Show exhibition. Previous MYWITA events have included portfolio workshops, sessions on applying for arts funding, advice on presenting yourself, and guides to selling your work.
