Mischa Twitchin is a founder-member of the London-based performance collective Shunt‚ . After having occupied a railway arch in Bethnal Green for five years, the company is currently performing 'Tropicana', its first production (in association with the National Theatre) in its new space at London Bridge Vaults. Unusually for a London fringe company, Shunt makes a project of the space it inhabits, over and beyond its productions.
The relation between its collective, devised work and the ongoing independent work of individual members can also be seen in the company’s monthly cabarets. In addition to work with Shunt, Mischa is a freelance lighting designer. He is also developing work exploring the possibilities of what has been called (in the context of Heiner Müller) a post-dramatic theatre. (A version of a current project ‘Klamm’s Dream’ will be broadcast as part of the Roar‚ season on Resonance Radio, January 19, 6.30pm [
www.resonancefm.com].) While researching for a PhD on the Theatre of Death, Mischa also teaches at Goldsmiths College and at the Central School of Speech and Drama
