Sianed has worked as a composer, performer and improviser. Collaborating with choreographers / theatre practitioners / writers / performance poets / story tellers / video makers and filmmakers, from different cultural backgrounds, in performance projects and site-specific works. She studied Music at Dartington College of Arts and an M.A. in Electro Acoustic Composition at the University of East Anglia. Brought up in Welsh choral singing and the Cerddant and Penillion singing of the Eisteddfodau, Sianed has travelled the world researching extended vocal techniques in East Africa (Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar). Also Mongolia (particularly the Long Song singers and xoomii singers), in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan (the epic singers of the Manas tradition) in1999.
Recent collaborations include Voice Lab (co-founder) with Sian Croose Jon Baker and Helen Chadwick, and a new work ‘Taliesin’ with choreographer/video maker Henrietta Hale. She is currently promoting her debut solo album ‘surrender’ at venues and festivals across the country performing solo shows using various electronic equipment and visual projections. In 2005 she will be collaborating with John Wolf and director Michael Boyd as composer for the Royal Shakespeare’s production of Twelfth Night.
