Description | Clare Best and Sara Clifford, Writers in Residence 2014-15. Sara studied English at Manchester University and has an MA in Screenwriting. She has written over twenty plays including work for the Soho Theatre and Nottingham Playhouse, and was a writer on attachment at Chichester Festival Theatre. Her play A Thousand Days, was a Finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn award. As director of her company, Inroads Productions, she creates large scale site specific projects, collaborating with local artists and communities, most recently Our Dancing Feet (True, and not so true, Tales from the Dancefloor) set in the 1950s. 'The clarity of intellectual and emotional understanding is unmistakable'. The Independent. Clare studied English at Cambridge University and worked as a bookbinder, a bookseller and an editor before taking an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Sussex. She has performed her autobiographical poem cycle Self-portrait without Breasts in the USA and Canada as well as all over the UK. Her first full collection of poetry, Excisions, was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney Centre Prize.
