1st Jul 2013 - 5th Jul 2013
Faculty of Arts, Grand Parade
Further to the success of the Annual Research Festival held in the previous 3 years, the CRD is looking to celebrate our research again this year in a way that is both outward looking and inclusive. This year’s theme was chosen to reflect these aims, and to explore existing knowledge, its possibilities and limitations. The programme includes external speakers addressing current issues and workshops targeted at colleagues’ expressed interests.
This event is free of charge and open to all members of the Faculty, including academics, administrators, technicians and postgraduate students. All the sessions can be booked individually apart from Monday which is an all day event.
Online Booking is now closed, please contact j.embleton@brighton.ac.uk by Friday, 28th June if you would like to attend.
There are 2 competitions open to students and staff linked to the Research Festival, each with a prize of £250:
- Tweet a research proposal: best summary of a research project in under 140 characters. (Deadline for entries: 9am, 5th July). #crdcomp
- Visualise a research proposal: best visualisation (drawing, photographic image, 3-D object, etc) of a research project. (Deadline for entries, 24th June. All entries to be emailed in digital form and to consist of a single image with a two or three sentence description of the research to: j.embleton@brighton.ac.uk)
The criteria for judging these will be: relevance to the theme; quality of research; relevance to University of Brighton strategy; interdisciplinarity. The results will be announced on Monday, 8th July.
There are various options to participate in the sessions during this week. Monday is only available as an all day booking but the rest of the week is split into sessions; you are welcome to come to the whole event or attend single sessions.
