Fresh Catch by Hannah Whittall

My first semester of Higher Education at Anglia Ruskin University studying Illustration has been a very positive learning experience; I have pursued and taken many opportunities previously unavailable to me. I have worked on several briefs which have allowed me to experiment and grow in areas I am both interested and enthusiastic about. For example, a project which had the most positive outcome was a brief which involved learning about several printing methods; I had no previous experience in this area. Access to a supervised print and letterpress room has enabled me to experiment and explore different methods and techniques. After several weeks with the teaching, help and insight of many willing lectures and print room technicians I have produced a body of work which has been a great success. This then inspired me to see what I could achieve with such a body of work. As a result, I travelled to Barcelona where I had the opportunity to exhibit my etchings in Gaudi’s Casa Batllo Museum as well as RBSA Gallery, Birmingham. As a result of these experiences I have been motivated and inspired to seek more opportunities, expand my portfolio and work towards becoming a successful illustrator.
