Abstract

Design in the Clinical Environment is a multidisciplinary collaboration between University of Brighton, College of Arts and Humanities, Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to develop innovative teaching and learning models for cross-disciplinary and interprofessional education. The project further extends existing principles of evidence-based medical treatments and the increasing evidence that aesthetic, intellectual and cultural dimensions of design are acknowledged as significant in improving patient outcomes, in the workplace and in the social interfaces embodied in the built environment.
